Woodinville, WA, September 2024 – Dave Hill Jr., a Seattle-based songwriter, drummer, and musician, proudly announces the release of his new single, "Angry Eyes." Available now, the track marks a significant moment in Dave’s journey as a musician, bringing personal reflection and raw emotion to the forefront of his music.
After playing drums professionally for over 30 years, Dave discovered songwriting at age 51, and "Angry Eyes" is the latest result of this new creative venture. Inspired by a challenging night with his son, the song captures the moment Dave decided to transform conflict into art. He sat at the piano and, in a powerful stream of creativity, composed most of the song in one sitting.
"Angry Eyes" features Dave on drums, piano, and vocals, recorded at the legendary London Bridge Studio in Seattle, a space brimming with musical history. The single also reconnects Dave with longtime friend and producer Jonathan Plum, adding another layer of personal meaning to the project.
“This song is about recognizing anger as a form of caring and that it doesn’t have to be met with anger. I want to find positive ways to transmute difficult energy into something positive,” says Dave. “Instead of trying to negate my son's anger, or meet him where he was, I decided to sit down at the piano and let the music come out. It was one of those rare moments where everything flowed naturally in surprising ways.”
Dave’s story is one of resilience and transformation. After decades of self-doubt, he finally found his voice and committed to sharing it with the world. His first releases, including "Run With the Dog" and "Song I’m Afraid to Write," drew from deep personal experiences, tackling themes of loss and vulnerability. "Angry Eyes" continues this tradition of heartfelt storytelling with lyrics and melodies that resonate with those navigating the complexities of life, relationships, and parenthood.
Dave’s musical influences range from Joni Mitchell and Bill Withers to Prince and Freddie Mercury, and these varied influences are reflected in his unique sound—where classic storytelling meets introspective piano-driven compositions.
With over 20 songs already composed and plans to release at least one new song per month, Dave Hill Jr. is just beginning to share his musical journey. "Angry Eyes" is available now on all major streaming platforms.

About Dave Hill Jr. Dave Hill Jr. grew up immersed in the Seattle music scene, where he cut his teeth as a drummer, collaborating with local legends like Michael Shrieve. He recorded and toured with Seattle’s own Inflatable Soule managed by Susan Silver. He relocated to New York in 2000 for 11 years, performing and recording with his band Jettatura, and released an adventurous electronica album under the name brainboxing. In 2003, Hill transitioned into the tech side of music, joining Berlin-based Ableton, and then went on to lead iZotope’s marketing in 2011. After years of professional success, Dave returned to the Pacific Northwest, where he now focuses on his songwriting, coaching, and creative endeavors. His music reflects his journey through self-doubt, personal growth, and the healing power of music.
